Government increases AISH rate - April 1, 2012
Effective April 1, 2012, the maximum AISH living allowance will increase from $1,188 to $1,588 and the employment income exemptions will double from $400 to $800 for single clients and from $975 to $1,950 for families. The increased amount will be reflected on the April benefit payment.

Government increases AISH rate—April 1, 2009
Effective April 1, 2009, the maximum AISH living allowance increased from $1,088 to $1,188. The increased amount will be reflected on the May benefit payment. A separate payment of $100 will be issued mid-May to cover the increase for April.

Alberta supports new federal disability savings plan—November 27, 2008
Savings will not affect eligibility for provincial financial assistance
The Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) is a new federal program that will help parents, guardians and others save to ensure the long-term security of their child with a disability.
The Government of Alberta is ensuring Albertans with disabilities will continue to qualify for benefits as they would without an RDSP, by fully exempting the RDSP as income and assets when determining eligibility for AISH and other provincial assistance programs.
AISH clients can earn more while still receiving financial assistance—July 1, 2008
Effective July 1, 2008 the upper limit of the AISH employment exemption formula increased by $500 to $1,500 per month for single AISH clients and to $2,500 per month for couples and single parents. With the combination of the AISH financial benefit and employment earnings, AISH clients who can do some work will have access to more disposable income each month. Depending on their circumstances, AISH clients may also receive assistance to help pay for child care and work-related supplies, such as tools, specialty clothing or transportation to training. With clients, employers, community agencies and other partners, government is developing strategies to help interested clients participate in the workforce.
Government increases AISH rates and supports employment—January 1, 2008
Effective January 1, 2008, maximum AISH benefits increase from $1,050 to $1,088, and eligible clients will receive a payment by the end of February. Employment supports for AISH clients are also now being offered. With clients, employers, community agencies and other partners, government is developing strategies to help interested clients participate in the workforce.
