A guardianship order is where a person (the guardian) is appointed by court order with legal authority and responsibility to make (or assist in making) decisions about non financial personal matters on behalf of an adult who has been found to lack the mental capacity to make personal decisions. There may be one or more guardians for one adult and one or more alternate guardians as well.
